2. Make sure you work with reputable companies and only affiliate yourself with the best.

3. Consider inexpensive Insurance options while working from home.  If you are not employed by a company that covers your benefits... you will definitely need to look into something to cover yourself and possibly your family. Do not find yourself without proper coverage when you need it most... a sudden illness could literally wipe away months and months of profit. 

4. Look for companies that offer "trial runs" or "zero-cost" options.  Unless you are looking to run a franchise type business, the "low-cost" or "zero-cost" trial run is a must.  This type of option will give you the opportunity to get a good feel for the company that you are planning to align yourself with before making huge purchases.

5. Beware of scams. I recently was taken in by a company that had a splash page which said "join now for only $49.95 and we will never bill you again".  It sounded so attractive (low cost trial run) that I immediately paid the $49.95 and joined the company.  The only catch is that after I had paid my $49.95, I was taken to another page that required that I pay more money and then another page, and then another and then another.  I clicked NO to the purchase options on each page... until finally I landed on a page which said "congratulations, now you will need to purchase a website like this one, for just $197 more!" (This was definitely a rip-off site). So beware.
